# Everyone is Aware of Private Equity in Accounting

The true catalyst behind the surge in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and private equity (PE) transactions is the widespread lack of qualified succession teams. Either a succession team does not exist, is not large enough to manage the buyout obligations of the exiting leadership, or the team has skill gaps that may need too much time to put in place. PE firms entered the market because they saw the opportunity to help firms without concrete succession teams to grow.
