A recent inquiry came from a group looking to acquire a firm with $10M in EBITDA, which would value the firm at about $30M. There are 175 $30M-plus firms on the IPA Top 500 Firms list, and many of them have already accepted outside investment or are extremely large firms.

There Is A Difference Between Acquirers

The financial opportunity is one aspect, but money is not always the main driver. Other differences are a firm’s infrastructure, culture, growth vision, seller timelines, existing client mix, and the buyer’s equity plan. Their plan could be to sell in a few years or be a long-term hold with no anticipated sale.
